Happy New Year!
To start off the New Year, among other things, I
have some users who want to buy a software product that dynamically
enhances Powerpoint presentations. Great! I am all for sexy looking
Powerpoint presentations, who isn't?
Here's the catch though:
Any Powerpoint you make with this tool will make the Powerpoint
unwatchable in Powerpoint. You will need to download and install
a 3rd party software package (proprietary viewer that requires
admin privs to install. I wonder if it needs them to run too?)
to watch the presentation.
Maybe I am all wet on this, but the FAQ from the product states:

Great idea (make PPS' more sexy)
Piss poor execution (foist a proprietary viewer on your users)

enhanced presentation to be saved and moved to another
machine running Ovation or the free player available for

madman, you know what happens when you vary from the industry standard. There's a reason everybody uses MS Office, just like there's a reason everybody uses Cisco Routers. . .I mean, you could use another router for your enterprise, but why? same applies for apps in my opinion, especially one that's gonna make every powerpoint that these people using the app email to every coworker in the company, who each in turn will want to at least view it. . .meaning you're now deploying the free reader to everybody in your company. . .also meaning, you'll be on the phone explaining to the IT guy at the other company that your sales guy just sent his presentation to why he has to give his user admin rights on their pc so they can install this app. Or even worse, you're actually helping the users at other companies install the app and they're calling you because they think "your" app "messed up" their computer. I like your site man. -M
